Iron castings for the power transmission industry
When optimizing the weight distribution of a power transmission component, the high castability of iron enables a much better control over the as cast product than steel. This minimizes the need for machining, resulting in a much more cost effective PT component.
Iron pulley
When a client orders sheaves, he expects it to be on the shelf. That’s why Saguenay Foundry’s turn-around speed is a marked advantage. When we already have a pattern, we will always shuffle things around for an emergency, a client with broken equipment.
And even when we don’t have a pattern, our new moulding technology without pattern can achieve a speed that is unmatched in the industry. So if you need a part fast, send us a quote and we’ll present you with the best alternative.

Iron gear blanks
Whether you are doing a 10’ internal gear out of ductile iron or a small 20’’ grey iron spur gear, you need iron of great quality so the machined teeth will last for a long time with as little vibration as possible. Saguenay Foundry recently acquired a fluid analysis software to simulate pouring, ensuring consistency through the parts to optimize the gating systems of any casting that we do.

Bearings and pillow blocks
No matter the service condition, whether it’s as harsh as the mining industry or much milder, the quality iron bearings and pillow blocks produced by Saguenay Foundry are built to last. The microstructure is always under scrutiny to ensure great self-lubrication of grey iron parts or a good shock resistance for the ductile iron castings.
