Our Products: Grey, Ductile and CGI Iron Castings
Saguenay Foundry’s expertise revolves around the production of 3 basic types of top-quality iron castings :
These castings differ from one to another by their metallurgical structure, chemical composition and overall properties. The term “cast iron” refers to a family of heterogeneous metallurgical structure with varying properties. Our castings combine iron and at least one other constituent, usually carbon and/or silicon.
Cast iron has long been perceived as a low-end, cheap material, but the categorization and standardization of the various types of cast iron have made it one of today’s most sought-after materials for a wide variety of applications. Cast iron can be poured at lower temperatures than steel. In its liquid state, cast iron is more fluid than steel, which allows it to be cast in more complex and varied shapes, in addition to be less prone to casting defects.
